Customized From Start to Finish
The very best things in life are custom-fit, and that includes vision correction at Horizon Eye Specialists. One size does not fit all when it comes to your eyes and just like the tailoring of a fine suit or designer dress, your iLASIK™ procedure is 100% tailor-made for you. No two treatments are the same!

iLASIK’s combination of Wavescan diagnostic eye-mapping, Iris Registration™ technologies, IntraLase™ flap creation and Advanced CustomVue™ LASIK treatment allows unprecedented customization and accuracy making it possible for the actual laser treatment to be fully personalized to the unique characteristics of each of your eyes. This precise level of measurement and treatment can enable you to achieve the full potential of your personal best vision.

Here's how it works

1. Customized Pre-op Measurements

iLASIK Step One:
Addressing the uniqueness of your eyes, Wavescan 3D mapping creates a blueprint of each eye allowing us to analyze your vision needs with 25 times more accuracy than standard measurements used for glasses, linking diagnostic information with laser treatment. Iris Registration (pictured above) reads the specific characteristics of your iris. Later, like something out of a movie, Iris Verification will be used to ensure the correct Wavefront™ treatment is being applied to the correct patient and eye. Without individual Iris Verification, the treatment cannot begin!

2. Laser-Created Flaps

iLASIK Step Two:
The IntraLase FS laser is a computer-guided, ultra-fast laser that is used to create the thin corneal flap for the iLASIK procedure, replacing the hand-held microkeratome blade still used by some LASIK surgeons. The IntraLase FS laser virtually eliminates complications and creates an optimal surface below the flap, allowing better visual outcomes. In clinical studies, more patients achieved 20/20 vision or better with procedures that incorporate the IntraLase technique.

3. Wavefront-Guided Vision Correction

iLASIK Step Three:
Horizon Eye Specialists utilizes the VISX Star S4 excimer laser to perform your Advanced CustomVue laser procedure providing the most precise, accurate form of laser vision correction available today. Your pre-op Wavescan measurements and Iris Registration information are fed into the wavefront computer-guided laser for custom-corrected vision treatment and accurate initial alignment. Furthermore, 3D eye tracking (pictured below) ensures that even if your eye moves your treatment remains exact and specific to your customized iLASIK procedure.

Custom iLASIK may result in patients seeing clearer and sharper than ever before:

In clinical studies, Custom iLASIK has been able to provide patients with:

  • A greater chance of having 20/20 vision
  • The potential for better vision than is possible with glasses or contact lenses
  • Less incidence of glare and halos
  • Potentially better overall vision, even at night

iLASIK is the final frontier of LASIK

NASA recently approved the iLASIK procedure for its astronauts following review of extensive military clinical data, which showed the use of two lasers (Intralase & wavefront-guided) provides superior safety and vision as compared to earlier forms of the procedure. In fact, all branches of the U.S. military have approved LASIK for their servicemen and women, including Naval aviators and Air Force pilots, thanks to a decade of military research and recent advancements in iLASIK technology.

What does this mean for you?

The safety and effectiveness of iLASIK have been validated by our nation's most critical and scrutinizing physicians and scientists. Mission critical personnel whose vision is essential to their job have been given the green light for iLASIK. Even your most-extreme lifestyle is nothing compared to being ejected from an F-16 or the G-Forces of shuttle rocket blastoff.
