About Dr. Floyd
Dr. Floyd’s focus and passion is providing the highest quality eye care to all her patients in a collaborative manner to achieve each patient’s greatest possible vision. Dr. Floyd is a board certified, fellowship trained ophthalmologist practicing comprehensive ophthalmology with a specialized focus on customized cataract surgery utilizing advanced technology lens implants and laser technology (FLACS) to achieve the best outcomes for her patients. Dr. Floyd believes excellent patient care begins with listening to her patients, carefully considering their needs and thoughtfully counseling them on the many options surrounding cataract surgery to achieve their goals. Dr. Floyd’s greatest honor is earning the trust of her patients to allow her to help restore their vision.
Dr. Floyd graduated as the Chief Resident of ophthalmology from Louisiana State University - Shreveport and completed a competitive ophthalmic research and pathology fellowship at the University of Utah developing innovative cataract microsurgical techniques and studying the newest intraocular lenses. She received her medical degree with a special distinction in research from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Floyd graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona with a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, both in physiological sciences.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Floyd has been recognized for her academic achievements, published her work in peer-reviewed medical journals (including Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Orbit, PLoS One, Clinical Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences) and presented her research at international medical conferences (including American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Presbyopia, American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology). Dr. Floyd has also authored several academic book chapters and online publications in ophthalmology textbooks.
As a woman in a leadership position, Dr. Floyd believes strongly in role modeling and mentorship. She is a professor at both the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Floyd is committed to the professional development of future physicians of Arizona, teaching physicians in ophthalmology, family medicine, internal medicine and emergency medicine residency programs. Dr. Floyd was recognized as “Community Preceptor of the Year” among all the physicians in Phoenix in 2022.
